Yellow River Xiaolangdi Scenic Area is located at Mengjin County, which is about 40 kilometers to the north of Luoyang City, Henan Province. It is one of the most important scenic spots of Henan Province. The whole scenic area has covered over 1250 square kilometers including 296 square kilometers of water surface. Having rivers and gorges views as the unique characteristics of the scenic area that mingled with the culture of Yellow River, Xiaolangdi Scenic Area is absolutely a great place to visit when you are here.
The Three Gorges of Yellow River, Bali Gorge, Gushan Gorge and Longfeng Gorge (Dragon and Phoenix Gorge) are some of the most popular attractions at Xiaolangdi Scenic Area. The Three Gorges of Yellow River which situated on the upper level of Xiaolangdi Dam can be considered as the essence of the scenic area along Yellow River. Besides that, each of the gorge within the scenic area has its every own characteristics. Bali Gorge is the last section of the Yellow River Gorges and well known as the narrowest section among all. The cliffs on both sides of the gorge are tall and the narrow valleys appearing to almost joining with the sky. When you see from afar, the beautiful valleys seem to be connecting with one another to outcome with a natural door. Thus, it is also known as the Door of the Yellow River.
Gushan Gorge on the other hand, is well known for its grand landscape which surrounded by a strong sense of poetry. Natural beauties are interwoven with manmade artificial architecture within this piece of land. Moreover, the countless legends and stories about Gushan Gorge have added some sense of mystery to the attractions too. In addition, the Dragon and Phoenix Gorge is a destination where you can experience the mist and clouds surrounding you. Surrounded by rugged mountain rocks, the tall trees as well as the blue pond here have ensured a wonderful atmosphere for visitors as if being in a fantasyland.
