Beijing Church

Beijing mainly has two kinds of churches: Catholic Church and Christian Church. Though the number of churches in Beijing is far less than the numbers of Buddhist and Taoist temples, most churches in Beijing are historic buildings with splendid architecture, boasting of significant historic values and art values. Beijing’s churches were in full blossom in the 1930s. Then there were a total of 80 plus churches in Beijing. There were also many buildings with the feature of Christian culture in middle schools, universities, hospitals and libraries. So church-style buildings are an important part of Beijing’s traditional buildings.
Beijing has a city-construction history of 3,000 years. It was the capital of Liao, Jin, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. The church culture in Beijing has also a history of more than 1,000 years. Church culture has produced a broad and profound impact on Beijing in the perspectives of social life, politics and economy.  Besides, church wedding in Beijing and China is also becoming exceedingly popular.
