Watch the Qiantang River Tidal Bore safely and pleasantly.
Taking advantage of the world’s largest tidal bore, Qiantang River is expected to face the heavy flooding of tourists on the lunar date of August 18, or Oct. 3, 2012 of the calendar day.
August 18 of the lunar day is the traditional date for watching Qiantang River Tidal Bore. The government just published an 8-long super holiday combining Mid-autumn Festival and National Holiday. This year’s Tidal Bore Festival also coincides with this super holiday.
The tide of Qiantang River is usually as high as 1-2 meters. The movement speed of the tide can reach up to 10 meters. Every year, there are reports on the killing accidents by the tide.
The fire department reminds all the tourists of their own safety. If you will watch the Qiantang River Tide Bore during the holiday, do not enter any area marked Danger. Do not cross the protective rails. As the tourist numbers are huge, any uncivilized behavior such as noises in public, running about and jumping the queue will be dangerous.
Another convenience of this super holiday is the free charge of the expressways. All the cars visiting the Tide Bore this year should be parked in the designated area under the direction of the field managers.
